CasaCheck

Buying a home is one of the most important and expensive decisions in life, but it is often approached too quickly: a short visit, a few first impressions, many things to remember and very little time to think clearly.

CasaCheck was created to help people looking for a home evaluate a property with more method. The app accompanies the user during the visit, guides them through the aspects to check, allows them to take notes and photos, assigns a synthetic score and generates a final report to review calmly.

It does not replace a technician, surveyor or notary, but it helps buyers avoid arriving unprepared. The goal is to give the user a clear observation grid, so that different properties can be compared without relying only on the feeling of the moment.

What It Offers

CasaCheck guides the user through a structured property evaluation, organized into areas such as structure and general condition, systems, bathroom, windows and insulation, kitchen and interiors, extras and the surrounding context.

Each section contains questions and checks designed to bring out strengths, issues, doubts and possible future costs. During the visit, users can enter answers, notes, property details, asking price, listing link, address, surface area, year of construction, floor, energy class and photos.

At the end of the evaluation, the app assigns an overall score out of 154, useful for summarizing the condition of the property and comparing it with other homes visited. The score is not meant to be a professional appraisal, but it provides a practical reference to understand whether a home is solid, complete or full of aspects that still need to be checked.

Report and Comparison

One of the main features is the PDF report. After the visit, CasaCheck generates a summary document with property details, score, evaluated categories, notes, critical points and observations collected during the inspection.

The report can be archived, shared or used as a basis for discussion with a family member, technician or consultant. It is designed to turn an often confusing visit into an organized document, useful even days later.

The app also allows users to save multiple properties, resume ongoing evaluations and compare up to three homes side by side. This is one of the most useful aspects: when visiting several apartments, impressions quickly get mixed up; having data, scores and notes in the same place makes comparison much more rational.

Buying Tools

In addition to the technical evaluation, CasaCheck includes tools designed to support the user throughout the buying process.

There is a document checklist, a section to save questions for the real-estate agent, a list of red flags to monitor and a specific visit checklist. The app therefore helps not only with walls, systems and windows, but also with legal, condominium, economic and documentation-related aspects.

It also includes a guided purchase timeline, an economic analysis of estimated costs, a mortgage simulator with monthly payment and accessory cost estimates, and a real-estate glossary with useful terms such as energy certificate, cadastral income, preliminary contract, property survey, mortgage, habitability certificate, agency fee and many others.

Property Organization

The dashboard collects all saved evaluations and separates drafts, ongoing visits and completed assessments. Each property can include details, cover photo, notes, evaluation status and its own report.

The app also includes a map of saved properties, useful when comparing homes in different areas, and a revision history to see how an evaluation changes after a second visit or after collecting new information.

Evaluation data is managed locally inside the app, without requiring an account or a mandatory cloud system. There is also an export and import backup function, so users can preserve their work.

Why I Built It

I built CasaCheck because buying a home is a moment where it is very easy to decide emotionally. A house may feel right immediately, but there are details that only emerge if you know what to look for: damp, weak windows, old systems, missing documents, condominium expenses, accessory costs and future renovation work.

I wanted to create a simple but disciplined tool, designed for ordinary people and not only for real-estate professionals. An app to open during the visit, use as a guide and then review calmly before making important decisions.

The most interesting part of the project was turning a property visit into a guided path: observation, notes, score, comparison, documents, questions, costs and final report. CasaCheck does not decide for the user, but helps them buy with more awareness.

Project Status

CasaCheck is currently in development as a native Android app. The goal is to publish it on Google Play after completing and refining the user experience.
