About Me

My name is Antonio Angelotti, and for over 20 years I have been designing, managing, and securing digital infrastructures and mission-critical networks. I currently work as an Enterprise Service Management Developer for UNICC (United Nations International Computing Centre), the IT agency of the United Nations system, after having held technical and strategic roles in healthcare and tech sectors across Europe and the Americas.

I began my career in GNU/Linux administration, later developing skills in networking (CCNP, Juniper), IT security, asset management, and ServiceNow development, where I’ve earned several official certifications. Today, I’m specializing in Artificial Intelligence, with courses and certifications in Machine Learning and Generative AI, to integrate automation and predictive analytics into enterprise solutions.

Technology has always been, for me, a tool to solve real-world problems, support communities, and inspire:

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I personally contributed — through BASLUG, which I’ve chaired since 2001, and Officine Mediterranee, an independent collective I co-founded in 2020 alongside fablabs, makerspaces, and hackerspaces — to the production of thousands of protective face shields and respiratory valves using 3D printing for hospitals and the Civil Protection in Basilicata. In response to the emergency, Officine Mediterranee leveraged its 3D printing expertise to support frontline workers: the shields and valves were validated by medical teams and distributed thanks to the Civil Protection; UNICC later published the initiative in an official article.

In November 2019, I designed and led the entire project — from engaging and supporting UNGSC, ARISS, ESA, and NASA — to preparing the students, enabling over 300 students from the European High School in Brindisi to speak via radio with Commander Luca Parmitano aboard the International Space Station about climate change as observed from space; UNICC covered the event in a special feature.

In addition to my professional activities, I have cultivated passions and earned certifications that reflect my spirit of service and my curiosity to explore new frontiers: I am a commercial helicopter pilot (with over 250 command hours on Agusta A-109, Bell B-407, AS-350, Robinson R-22, and NH-260). I have experience as a lifeguard, am a licensed radio amateur, and have a keen interest in amateur meteorology — processing EUMETSAT satellite images with Python and Bash scripts and managing a professional weather station — and I hold an unlimited nautical license, allowing me to navigate any route with confidence. I’m also passionate about cycling and a sports enthusiast in general, convinced that physical activity is key to maintaining energy and creativity.
